Shorinji Kempo 70 Years is a documentary to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the martial art created by Doshin So. Culminating in a World Shorinji Kempo Taikai and three day International Study Session that bears the title “Be the Bridge and make the world better, one person at a time”.
Empty Mind Films were very humbled to recieve a kind invitation to film at the 2017 World Shorinji Kempo Organization Taikai which also marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of Shorinji Kempo in 1947. This is a brief summary of this exciting event which took place this July.

He has published numerous books and hundreds of articles relating to Japanese Martial Arts history and is Japan’s leading expert on the swordmaster Miyamoto Musashi.
Mixing a martial art with religion is not new and can be traced back 1500 years ago to Shaolin Temple. There the similarity ends. Shorinji Kempo is a modern martial art combining the best of Japanese Budo techniques with a philosophy based on ancient Buddhist scriptures.
